Job Description
Minimum 8–12 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure, power or energy sectors. Strong knowledge of land acquisition, land revenue laws and related regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities
Land Laws and Land Acquisition:
- Ensure compliance with local, state and national land laws.
- Oversee land acquisition, lease agreements and title verification processes.
- Resolve disputes related to land ownership, encroachments and compensation.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the plant complies with environmental laws, energy regulations and labor laws.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities for approvals, permits and compliance audits.
- Monitor updates in applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
Dispute Resolution:
- Co-ordinate litigation and arbitration related to the plant's operations, land issues and contracts by seeking support from the Corporate Legal Team and external counsels.
Legal Advisory:
- Provide legal advice to the management team on plant and project-related risks, compliance and policies.
- Develop strategies to mitigate legal risks associated with plant operations.
Documentation and Record Management:
- Maintain and safeguard all legal documents, including land records, permits and licenses.
- Ensure timely renewal of all legal and regulatory licenses and clearances.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with government bodies, local authorities and community representatives.
- Manage community relations to prevent and address socio-legal conflicts.
Requirements
- Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university; Master’s degree (LLM) preferred.
- Industry : Preferably from the Power Sector
- Experience : Minimum 8–12 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure, power or energy sectors. Strong knowledge of land acquisition, land revenue laws and related regulatory processes.
- Skills : In-depth knowledge of land laws, property laws and regulatory frameworks in the energy sector.
